Great idea WelshDolphin! Good publicity too. Harry only lives just down the road, he could walk to home matches!

Didn't Harry toy with this idea a few years back?. And didn't he mention the clubs name when asked what path he might take at the end of his management days?.

Dream on,he said a league 1 or 2 club, maybe a NL club with ambition! i hope that most of us are still have ambition in mind when we think of PTFC although From my far off POV the frailty of the Tatnam pitch and our lack of success in attracting investors have had been what could be charitably called a dragging anchor effect on our progress....but we live in HOPE!! UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!!

"Hope springs eternal in the human breast. Up the Town!" (Alexander Pope) Okay, he didn't really say the last bit.

I think we could get beyond the humour and realise that this really could actually happen.
Harry won't be oblivious to our plight, the ground issues and obvious need for investment - Poole is a big and monied place - our club could and arguably should be a lot bigger.
Harry is almost certainly now too old to be a top flight manager, forever somewhat unfairly tainted by stories of dodgy deals and escapades like a bank account in his dog's name, so that no top club will now risk employing him, and he might well love an ownership role at a smaller club, with the potential to grow.
Get beyond a few lurid headlines, and Harry is a serious football bloke - someone who has given his life to football, has a wealth of experience, and is looking to have a bit of fun owning a smaller non-league club, without risking blowing a giant hole in his bank account; from what I undestand, he has a few million, so Poole shouldn't be too great a risk for him.
At the level that Poole are at now, it looks like a perfect fit - if he took over, the club would have loads more money that it does now, and probably the interest raised from his involvement would help open a few doors and maybe lead to a new ground.
I've for a long time thought that he might get involved and take over - maybe I am the only one, but if he does own a football club, then one in our tier on his doorstep would surely tick a lot of boxes.
No idea how this would happen, but I wonder if anyone will ask him if he is interested, or even if he will approach us.

Were it to happen, it would certainly give the Club great publicity, moreso than any amount of advertising could do. And who knows what doors that might open. Longshot maybe, but who knows, it's a crazy world that wer'e living in!.

Having read the Chairman's memories about the trip to Italy here I'll be disappointed if he doesn't give Harry a bell. Go on Chris, you know it makes sense!!

Thank you Andy Parker. The club as presently constituted will either fail completely or continue to literally tread water with the Tatnam pitch problems and inability to raise enough money to attract the upper flight of Non league players but..........we live in HOPE

I'm sure that Poole Town FC are every bit as ambitious as our neighbours Weymouth. The big difference between the pair is that they have a permanent home and we don't.

I'm sure that Poole Town FC are every bit as ambitious as our neighbours Weymouth. The big difference between the pair is that they have a permanent home and we don't. Right on Scorpio..and until we solve that first part of our conundrum we will continue to flap in the wind. We have discussed endlessly our poor financial support, our ongoing "home field' problems and the indisputable fact that the Terras(Weymouth) with a population of less that 50% of Poole itself are able to attract good attendance and have a community that supports its non league team. IMHO Poole Town, the #1 Non League team in a conurbation of over 700000.with access to PL prospects should be playing in the upper echelons of NL football. But we continue to struggle which is why when we see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel we grasp at it like a drowning man at a straw. No,I am not going to mention the SXXXXXM as we have been told that it is mission impossible. However unless and until. we are informed about a viable alternative to Tatnam, we will be unable to get the support we need both financially and at the ground.

I do normally stay well clear of this type of posting for what are hopefully obvious reasons but let me just say Expat that in your last sentence you are absolutely spot on and this is not lost on the BOD.
Getting to the point where we solve that problem has dominated our thinking for a very long time— watch this space!

Thanks Chris. And thanks for your superb series of memories and reflections. You should consider becoming a writer.
