I lived in Hull in Yorkshire for a while many years ago where there is (or perhaps, was) a brewery called Tetleys. Tetleys sign/logo was a huntsman just like the Eldridge Pope huntsman sign. The story goes that that artist commissioned to design signs for both breweries decided that since Yorkshire is mikes away from Dorset, he could get away with using the same design for both breweries. I believed this at the time but is it true? expat, and maybe other old gimmers, may know the answer.

Used to drink in an Eldridge Pope pub, the "Skittlers". I remember their "Green Top", "Master Keg", "Royal Oak" and IPA being popular. A lot better than what came out of Blandford. And "Devenish" tasted like it had been pumped out of Weymouth Bay.
