Congratulations Mark on winning. Thanks to Peptalk for running & to all those that took part. Glad I finished above South Dorset Blue! If this is run again next season, hopefully a few more 3-1 wins so I can finish even higher!

Thank you PepTalk. This is a great bright light in keeping us fans together! Ballboy,Heysham Dolphin and a few others; We are lucky to be able to say that we saw the Town play at the highest level in the Club's history and that was after a struggle to get into the Southern League which was then the number one non league competition. ..and,can you believe it,today, The Terras avoided relegation following a great effort over their last five matches. we haven't see any postings from TerrasDolphin recently but congrats there anywaY and much as it pains me to say it one has to ask? What do they have that we don't when it gets down to the nitty gritty of winning the big ones?? Essentially its been like that in all the time i have followed PTFC

You are quite correct expat - of course. We did see the Town at the highest level in its history! The records show that Poole finished 10th in the Southern League in 1957-58. Their highest position ever! In those days there was no National League, no National League North, no National League South and no Northern Premier League. Thus, the Southern League was one step below the English Football League. But, of course, there was, also, no pyramid and no promotion to the Football League. As to why we never win the big games, it’s a mystery.

The Fifties, one of the golden ages of Poole Town Football Club with the team including players with full time football league experience plus several international players in the side. Football League status was one step away and of course the Home ground was Poole Stadium still there today 70 years later unused from the football point of view. Like others who can remember those days I have many good memories from then. I just hope the club today can bring to fruition a new permanent ground and promotion but I sometimes wonder it seems always to slip away at the last moment.
