Well it’s been a great ride and I suspect Tom thought long any hard about staying after relegation from the National League South. The fact that he stayed speaks volumes to the man.
While we have always been there or there abouts each season since then, the ultimate goal of promotion. There’s no doubt that the failure of the Club to find a new stadium has held the club back, at the end of the day, a Manager is judged by results. Whilst the club is not in trouble, results to date have been erratic. Tom is a victim of his own success, being judged by his own record. Of course we are all amateur football managers, but it is easy to criticise a man that has such a record while we have all didn’t our lives shouting the odds from the sidelines. Did I agree with everything Tom did? No but I am thankful that he has been here to drag us up by out bootstraps.
Tom’s record of theee successive Wessex League titles will never be repeated. Changes in the rules about promotion added to the difficulty mean that cannot happen. We have had a lots of highs and a few lows but it has never been boring.
So good luck for the future Tom and thanks for the ride.

Genuinely shocked by this news.
Tom has had amazing success with the club - as highlighted in Chris' statement. As he says a hard act to follow.
Tommy - thanks for all your commitment to the club - you are a True Dolphins legend.

Just been messaged about Tom's departure and as one who has known Tom as part of the Poole Town FC setup since the stadium days, seeing him come on as a young reserve and then obviously following him through his SUCCESFUL management career I'm deep in shock! I didn't see that coming and I don't think many on here did either. I wish Tom well of course and thankyou fir the memories. This is truly an end of an era! And on thar note, I for one after a whirlwind of a day and after so much change in such a short time will see how I support the new PTFC set up..

I have to admit to having been a regular critic of T.K. in recent seasons, often finding his team selections and tatics baffling, yet there can be no argument that, despite having to work with limited resources, overall he has been one of the most loyal and successful managers at this level. All supporters and club officials owe him huge thanks, gratitude and best wishes for the future. Hopefully this was not just a knee jerk reaction to recent team performances by the Board and they have already identified a suitable successor capable of taking the team to higher levels. Anything less is likely to cause greater supporter unrest.

Some very thoughtful posts on here
I wish TK well,He has been an incredible force in the club's recent history
John Anderson's post above encapsulates it"
Football Clubs and managers know that it is a game of achievement and let's be honest PTFC for one reason or another ha been under achieving during our relegation from NLS and ensuing seasons.
Do we want to potter along in the Southern League, where clubs like Wimborne and Hamworthy are breathing down our necks for local support or aspire to the NLS or higher.
The BOD now have the difficult task of proving their decisions right

Firstly thanks to Tom for the amazing job done and the taste of NLS. I did see this coming. Recent changes mean we have an ambitious hierarchy and the team has to match. Dorchester game was dismal and even yesterday was not great. The defence has to change and more creativity is needed to achieve greater consistency. Let's hope there is a plan in place.

It's sad to see Tom go but what a legend but it had to happen sooner or later. Stan Rickaby went in the 50s Arsene Wenger had to go at the Arsenal. It's the nature of the job. I hope he receives appropriate recognition for the service he has given the Club and he will be written into the Club's history as a true Poole Town Legend. I wish him well for the future.

After the fallout from the Dorchester game, I went to yesterday's match thinking that defeat would probably send Tom up the road, little knowing that the decision had already been taken. As echoed by others, his achievements for the club means that he can leave with his head held high and whoever takes over the reins will have a sound foundation to build from. Good luck to the new manager and I'm sure that all Poole fans, old and new, will wish Tom the best of luck in whatever course he chooses to pursue.

I wonder who the board have in mind, someone who is available and will do better than Tom, who probably has the best record in non league. Football is littered with clubs who changed their manager, only to find that the new manager did not make any difference. It reminds me of the saying 'better the devil you know'.

I'm keeping quiet at the moment. I'd just like to thank TK for his friendship over the years,we've had plenty of laughs. Thank you for the kindness you showed my family when Dad died. You're a legend without a doubt .

I've got a good idea who it is and if I'm right he's very inexperienced and won't last the season not a patch on Tom.

What a shock! There are times when I've been shaking my head at TK's tactics and team selections but I have never ever spoken these views out loud on this forum or elsewhere. Tom is very likely the most successful manager in non league football whereas I am only a supporter with opinions. Despite the above I've always thought him the right man for the job (his record speaks for itself) and I'm devastated to see him go. I wish him all the very best for the future. I should also like to point out that at this point last season our position in the league was worse, we were already out of the FA Cup, and we still ended up in the playoffs. Hoping that the board have got it right with a brave decision, only time will tell...

End of an era. TK was an incredible help to me personally during some work experience I did at the Club a few years back, always taking the time to co-operate and helping me gain experience. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him and commentating on his Poole side play - what an era. Leader. Lawyer. Legend.

Tom Killick must be the longest serving non-league manager ever. "Leader, lawyer, legend" sums it up rather well - thanks Ben. And thanks Tom.

So it's Matt Tubbs I wish him well and hope he is a success in the managers hot seat at Poole but I don't like the look of Bashley's present record in a lower division than Poole. Bashley are 10th in the league 5 points from a possible 12 a worse start than Poole. Maybe there are other reasons.

I don't understand the logic of this appointment we're getting a inexperienced manager with a poor record taking over from Tom. The only thing going for him he's been left a strong squad by Tom. This may be the start of a new era or a disaster who knows what ever happens Always A Dolphin.

T agree with Laserdad surely we expected an experienced and successful new Manager with a proven record to lead the Club forward to the expectations of promotion. Disappointed that Tommy has been sacked and wish him well for the future. Time will tell if this was a wise move.

Did we ever recover from that NLS relegation?
Answer No
and a few games into the new season it looked as if we were in for more of the same
Motivation.Consistency Discipline is what PTFC need
And what is that famous line from the Bard
"If it were to be done; better that it be done now"
This is the start of a new era so let's get behind those who will create it
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!

We were all aware that Tom couldn't carry on forever. Wouldn't it have been more diplomatic and possibly kinder if he had been stood down before the season started?. To sack him after half a dozen games has an element of knee-jerk about it.

If he proves to be a motivator then great appointment, the team already has the individual talent required, it just needs appropriate tatical guidance. Is Tubbsy the man to provide this? Only time will tell, let's just pray he doesn't prove to be a board puppet.
