Sadly no shocks there, I'm sure there's a lot more and worse to come

With most of the major banks being publicly owned in some way, there's not much hope for clubs like Southampton,Darlington unless they get a sugar daddy. Would be political suicide if they were to carry on with loans to some of these clubs, mind you they could get the Home Secretary to put in a claim for them :-)

Weren't Hornchurch doing really well until the then Chairman pulled the plug? I seem to remember a mass exodus of players from there a couple of years ago. Sadly for Fisher, they just don't have the gates. Who next i wonder, heard rumours that Cobham are in trouble, which would not be good for our neighbours...

Must be more to that one, not a bad ground. I see Julian Joachim has been playing there

Mmmm, food for thought. But at the moment, the club is run by and for the fans. Would that change if we were to progress, and human nature being as it is, people understandably wanted a piece of PTFC (as is happening in the League of Greed), and some people needed/wanted the cash and sold up?

It's sad to think that for the same price of 1 or 2 premier players, all of these clubs could be saved.

It's sad to think that for the same price of 1 or 2 premier players, all of these clubs could be saved. You're not far wrong. If more funds were allowed to filter down to the lower leagues the money could be used to stabalise clubs and help them develop academies, which in turn would help bring more players through the system and help at higher levels including international level. One idea would be to regulate agent's fees and have a 5% Levy on a transfer fee that would go into a fund for the non league pyramid, to be distributed around the clubs.

But the sad thing is that the list of profiteering Chairmen is endless, Lowe at the Scummers, Chase at Norwich, Fat Dan at Plymouth, Risdale at various, etc. Unfortunately the agents seem to be running things and won't let their gravy train go easily. PTFC needs to stay being run as it is, with us ALL doing whatever we can.

I used to work with a Linnets season ticket holder, and went there with him. The ground used to be better than some at least one if not two leagues higher than Conf South. Obviously they've upset someone at the FA.

Apparently, Fran, from what I am reading elsewhere, H&R allegedly exceeded the March 31st deadline with the alteration for the stand upgrade, also there is something to do with planning application for a new stand. Kings Lynn who face demotion and Cambridge City who were relegated last season because of ground grading regs are letting off steam about the rules for ALL clubs not being consistent. All very interesting.

I honestly believe that a League club will fold soon, and more clubs at all levels will go. Sadly.

Since we played Merthyr, and chatted to their fans, have kept an eye out for them. It seems they were lucky to finish the season. Hope they survive, but as one of their lads said, there's no jobs or industry left in the Valleys, so where does the money come from.

today's edition of metro reports that cromer town fc were leased their ground in 1922 by a local landowner but there was a clause in the lease that stated it would expire 21 years after the death of queen victoria's last surviving grandchild. who was king olav the fifth of norway, who died in 1991. so they have till 2012 to find a solution, and are currently trying to negotiate one with the family of the original landowner

Just look at the way we were removed from the Stadium, pity we didn't have the present Board thirty years ago. Clubs should be thoroughly going through leases and contracts. Also, it seems a lot of clubs have relied on one benefactor/family, look at Gretna.

It may be that some of the board WERE board members at the time of the Stadium 'eviction' sterte! Having had chats with Chris, I know that we would have safeguarded ourselves, don't think any of our Board were there then. Sadly we relied on trust, not something you can do with certain politicians. I spoke to a neighbour today who was really pleased for our success, but asked why it was us going to Branksome and not that Speedway lot!!! When I explained things to her, she was mortified. Another person on board
