I never went to QPR but I found this old newspaper cutting in the loft - now looking for the programme which I have somewhere... Attachments:

That is the old South Africa Road Terrace in the background. I'd know those flats anywhere. In my footballing life I have personally seen three players that made you realise that this game is sometimes more than just a sport.
Rodney Marsh, at loads of matches at Loftus Road George Best - European Cup Final against Benfica Stan Bowles, the original Stan the Man again at loads of matches at Loftus Road

Rodney Marsh scored a treble in this game! I've seen Stan the Man quite a lot in the pub opposite the bookies at Brentford FC - most dapper in his suit!

My father detested Rodney Marsh, felt he fell over too easy too often. I saw Plymouth's 1984 Cup Run to the Semis, fantastic to see what originally was a team of journeymen could do with team spirit and BELIEF. Tommy Tynan is still the greatest striker I ever saw, sorry Charlie.

However, he had vision and as wit all great players seemd to have all the time in the world. Stan Bowles was your mate. You could chat to him while he was playing have a beer with him and yes have a bet with him.
