There has not been much on here about the 18s or 21s since the FA Cup loss but the team that has contributed a fair few players to the first team for Cup Matches contests the U18 Cup Final on Sunday at the County Ground. They technically still need a point to win the Dorset 1 st division League too but are pretty much there on goal difference so are pushing for a league and cup double. They are also in the final of the South West Counties Cup and are second in that league too. Sure they would appreciate your support.

Thanks for the update Stuey - there hasn't been much on here about their games - hopefully next season we can see more. I hope to be down there this afternoon to cheer them on. Who will they be playing?

Just a thought, l have just seen under 18s team sheet and there is a lad named Panasar- Dower and l was wonder as l am a big Boxing fan if he is related in some way to one of my favourite boxers from the 1950s called Dai Dower as l know he retired to the Bournmouth area, any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Trevor Tallack.

Not the most enthralling of games but they opened up in the 2nd half and won comfortably on paper. Taffy there to see his boy George pick up a winners medal.

Digbydog, the lad you mentioned might well be related to Dai Dower. Dai was a sports instructor at the gymnasium of Bournemouth University on the Wallisdown complex but retired about twenty years ago, so their is a local connection.

I've posted a couple of very short clips - caught 2 of the three goals ( blame Nick Spetch for me missing the middle one!) and them collecting their medals at the end:

Not only have these boys won the Dorset County Cup, they are also the leaders and potential champions of the Dorset League Div 1 & lie 2nd in the very tough South West Counties League (Saturdays) The links are below swcyl.pitchero.com/match-info/tablesfull-time.thefa.com/Index.do?league=8993486Poole Town do play next Saturday at Home in the South West County league. Not sure but will it be at Tatnam ? To do so well in this league in their 1st season as 16/17 yr olds is a fantastic achievement and is a great credit to Simon Cassin, Marcus Browning & Alex Guthrie ( who has been supported by 2 players Sammy Glatzel & James Guthrie ) Thank you guys.

It seems that the team are now double winners as the only side that could have caught them in the Dorset U18 First Div has dropped points.
In terms of the game I thought it was actually a good game although Poole should have put the game beyond reach in the first half. Their keeper made a couple of very good saves and we repeatedly missed the target but 3 - 0 was a fair result with Poole having about 70% of the match in Merley's half.
Not sure when the last team to do the double was.

Amazing that we haven't won it for nearly 30 years

Amazing that we haven't won it for nearly 30 years You would think that, but youth football is a completely different beast. In the past, where we haven't had such a good youth system, there would be sides that have played together for years, and grew up together - but never make it at a semi-pro level simply because they didn't know about it or just liked playing with mates.

I've been watching the U18's for several years and I still say that I am amazed that we haven't won it more recently
