I have said many times that Tatnam could be improved to both meet the requirements of higher leagues and also improve relations with the neighbours. Time to share my thoughts. Firstly I have to say that I have no knowledge of any plans and that the information here is all avaialble to anyone if you look for it. Firstly let's look at the site and the status of the whole site. If we look a the site, we have Stanley Green Road on one side and the school on the other. At each end of the ground there are paths that many think are Rights Of Way, one of which goes right through the pavilion compound. However neither of these paths is on the Poole Rights of Way map so they are not rights of way but they ARE Public Open Spaces. In fact some of the building on the site are in this public open spaces. I can only assume that the buildings were originally on the site before PTFC took over. Below is a map showing the status of all parts of the site. The orange parts are designated public open spaces(parks to you and me) but the green are is shared between us and the school. It is not obvious where the school ends and the pitch begins and therein lies problem,

It should be obvious that if we used the Orange area between the fence and Stanley Green Road, there would be enough room to build what we need although a few trees would need to be relocated. We could then give up the area around the pavilion and move away from the houses.
The real problem is the pitch area. This area is shared between the school and the football club (as shown when the running track and cricket pitches take over our pitch for the summer term). No one wants to deprive children of their sports but thereis a few problems with this.
Firstly the land will be designated for educational use and the head teacher can (and often has) made it difficult for the club. However the land belonged to the Local Authority until recently. Unfortunately, various Acts of Parliament, covering the Governance of Schools ,and the disposal of assets work against us here.
According to the Gov.UK website: "Local authorities wanting to dispose of playing field land still need consent under Section 77 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998, but consent is now also required for disposal of any land used by a school or academy under Schedule 1 to the Academies Act 2010. Academies also need consent to any leases or disposals under their Funding Agreement."
OK but we have lease with the Local Authority, and it has some years to go. Unfortunately the school applied for Academy Status and it was approved in February this year. To put it a a nutshell the School now has the power not the council. Even if we negotiated with the School and bought the land freehold, and the school agreed to sell us the land, the DfE would almost certainly invoke either Section 77 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 (as they did with Slough Town), or Schedule 1 to the Academies Act 2010. Either way we lose.
So although there is more than enough space, no Rights of Way and (maybe) willing and helpful Council, it is hard to put together a case for Tatnam. Our lease has less than a decade to run, there is little chance that even that would be renewed and now the School has the power.
Our time at Tatnam is limited and with the Stadium option now gone, the search is again on for new home.

Thanks John. It all sounds a bit daunting to say the least. We need a wealthy sponsor and a chunk of land somewhere in Poole. Neither of these is a likely prospect but with homes in parts of the borough costing upwards of 8 million pounds and beach huts in Mudeford at £300,000 it ought to be!

Stubborn. Thick. Dense That'd be me and why at this low ebb in recent fortunes I ask the BOD to give us a glimmer of hope; on and off the field The SXXXXXM Never say never!

Once again Tatnam is effecting a huge drag on the fortunes of PTFC. As i mention on another thread we have,in the past, found the difficulties of overcoming fixture backlogs insurmountable and if this keeps up we may find the same result this time around. OK. Tell me again that the few of us are deranged when we dream of a return to the SXXXXXM!! Great to see Charlie head in the winner vs Arsenal, In fact red and white stripes and black shorts and it was deja vu all over again!!

Can I just add having returned to following the mighty Dolphins at Fortress Tatnam over the festive period after having 'been away' for around 4 years watching Bath Rugby I must say how good the ground looks and is a credit to all who have worked very hard to achieve what we have...... Needless to say we are now both back where we belong with our dear friends at Tatnam and will be wanting two Season tickets for next season along with Supporters Club membership!!

Great to have the both of you back mate Thank you Steve. What made our boxing day even better was being welcomed by your father as we got out our car in the school car park. Ironic that I remember him well in the Supporters shop in the Stadium. I would of only been 10 or so!

I was chatting with another supporter today about the ‘elephant in the room’ (Tatnam). When does the lease expire and are alternative sites being explored. All seems to have gone quiet again.

El Torro. please read terrasdolphin on "Senior Cup game off Tonight". Is it not downright bxxxxy ridiculous that the major semi-pro team in a conurbation of 700000 competes on a below sea level field that I remember from my youth as waterlogged farmland whilst the Stadium(built as the Borough of Poole Sports Arena!) is given over to dog racing and speedway. I don't have a quarrel with Speedway but greyhound racing over football?? To my jaundiced North American eyes and as a PTFC fan it breaks my heart.

meanwhile i note multi million pound updates to the Kingland Rd are mooted up as far as the George. One comment in the Echo fondly remembered when PTFC played at the SXXXXXM. If the area is pedestrianised up that far I would hope that a rethink of the future of the SXXXXXM might cross Poole council mind. Incidentally a couple of people pointed out that the bus and train station should be one interchange. Even here in car crazy North America that is very much the trend

I note JohnA has put out another plea for funds to stop our pitch from sliding into Holes Bay. I did contribute the last time around but will not now I'm afraid. I'm sure that we all learned earlier in our lives that old truism about throwing good money after bad. When our director from Stadia UK(if he is still with us) makes an effort to get the football rolling towards the SXXXXXM I will gladly pony up. In fact if 200 of us ponied up at least 100 that might at least show that we are serious It is quite obvious that when the state of Tatnam come to jinx us EVERY season that there is a major problem that we simply cannot afford to fix..and on a leased schoolground for the long term benefit of Who exactly? We keep hearing that the dogs are going. WHEN?? Has anyone ever done a head count on how many fans would like us to get back where we belong. I seem to remember an article somewhere(perhaps it was in the Eddie Mitchell era) that people on the street felt that the SXXXXXM was where we should be playing. I shall now await the usual naysayers giving us 1001 reasons why we should never go back. I will never believe that!
