As a temporary measure and to get us promoted it would be okay. Providing there was no risk of us over stretching our finances, I'm sure the Cherries would want to ease their burden. Lets not forget our supporters, they would have to travel further. Not too far admittedly, but not in Poole Town is it. What a shameful situation when a premier club, with such a long and illustrious history, cannot find a home within it's home town, which it has represented with distinction for so many years. It's clearly not important to anyone outside the club itself. Poole Borough Council.......shame on you You don't deserve the Dolphins.

Once again slepe, spot on ! I think i would i would rather stay in the WL if it meant stretching our finances to breaking point, the thought of going again thru what we did in the 90's when we were skint really worries me. But as i said earlier, because of locality it would have to be Dean Court if we have to move.

I want promotion as soon as possible. I don't mind where the ground share is because I know our fans will be there!
Absolutely right expat - we have indeed earned it.
Absolutely right slepe. Every time I pass Morecambe's new ground - near a residential area and a static caravan site - I'm reminded of the difference between Poole Council and Lancaster City Council (which includes Morecambe).

Im afraid you're wrong Brian. I know a few of our older supporters who wont travel ! AFCB is probably the only one because its on bus routes. These are all things the B.O.D. will have to take into consideration.

Dean Court would be handy for me, just up the road. As for the older supporters could they not be picked up on the way?

I would be more than happy to pick up and drop off our less mobile fans or those who had financial concerns.

For those people who live in Poole centre, Parkstone and Bournemouth, getting to Dean Court on public transport is much easier than getting to Canford Arena. And if you're driving, it's not much of an issue as parking next to the ground won't be a problem. So looks like a good short-term option if AFCB are up for it and we can afford it. The main thing we will lose is occasional / floating supporters who can walk to Tatnam with little notice.
Am I the only person who thinks that Canford Arena isn't very accessible unless you have a car? Or that it doesn't feel like it's really in Poole? I know beggars can't be choosers, but it's an important consideration. Are we going to pick up 'floaters' from Merley, Bearwood areas to compensate?

;D ;D ;D interesting responses on the echo story both in their comment section and on the forum here. 1. if we did share DC we definitely want to play at a higher level What is the point in winning the WL year after year?? 2. Don't know the first thing about British Company law but could not PTFC follow the lead of organisations like Swanage Railway which is a company limited by guarantee, the shareholders do not expect a return on their investment....I'd be proud to pass on my shares to my family as a community investment There is obviously a lot of goodwill out there for us amongst true sports lovers in the area,we need to capitalise on it.

I don`t like the idea of leaving Tatnum and the Wessex league until we have a firm agreement on a new ground. If it is a temporary move with a view to our own ground then go for it, otherwise Poole Town playing at Dean Court doesn`t sit well with me. I would rather play Wessex league at Tatnum then Southern league at Dean Court with no possibilty of a ground in Poole for the future.

Heard on the grapevine yesterday that AFC Bournemouth is too expensive to groundshare as they want too much moneyand that we are in talks with New Milton Town. If this is so it is asking a lot of our Supporters to travel 20 odd miles for a Home game even if it is only for a season or two.

I would have to be very selective of the games I could attend. If this is done I will have to wait for the Canford Arena move.

;D ;D ;D Might as well go to Days Park, Swanage. Nice little ground pubs close by and Steve47 could take us over by train!! Isn't Poole one of the wealthiest communities in the UK? Says bookfuls about the political leadership when an ambitious team such as PTFC can't find a suitable venue to play NL football at a higher level. And I know we've gone through this before but if we indeed go BACK TO BACK we should live up to our aspirations and go for it!

Project for a wet afternoon, its pouring here in the GWN list,in order of preference your preferred "new"ground for PTFC 1. A renovated football friendly Poole Stadium 2. An upgraded Tatnam field capable of getting FA approval 3. An upgraded Canford Arena capable of getting FA approval

Even assuming unlimited resources;- Number 1 isn't an option because whoever owns the Stadium would never co-operate; Number 2 isn't an option because of the school playing field; so My top three are 3; 3; and 3!

Ok, i'll put my six penneth in, being what some might say 'an old timer' I think I have a right to give it some! In 1994 after 60+ years of playing at 'OUR' stadium we were in all in tense and purposes thrown out by the then Liberal Council administration. Thanks Bernard (older fans will know!) The reason we were thrown out and subsequently for the best part of a decade begged and borrowed other teams grounds (I can remember at least 10!) was due in part to the board at that time being promised a new ground at Turlin Moor, by the council (have we heard this before!) As we all know it never happened. But by that time we were out of 'OUR' stadium and homeless. What did we do first? Ground share with AFC Bournemouth, what happened? poor crowds, AFCB had all the revenue/bar money ect, all our best players left the rest is history. Do we really want to wind the clock back 16 years and be in the exact same place as we were then? being promised something by this council? I for one would not trust this council with one word they say. Until a new ground is designed, planned, permission granted and it is built forget promotion. Of course we all want it but not at any price. Stay where we are until we can move, and as for New Milton ARE YOU ALL MAD! think about it.

An interesting dilemma - and back page of the Echo so some good publicity.
To win the league for 2 seasons and not get promoted would be pretty demoralising. It would also be a big ask to win the title 3 years running. However, the next step up will require more money, so combined with the new ground could prove a big stretch financially.
Proximity of the ground has to be considered. Clearly there are fans who will travel any distance - but there are others who will not be keen (or unable) to go over 10 miles - and mid week games could certainly suffer.
One ground everyone is avoiding mentioning is Wimborne. I know the animosity and the huge slope! - but probably the closest to Poole of all the grounds. I guess it would be cheaper than Dean Court so worth considering? (Do I feel a backlash about to unleash??)

Wouldn't New Milton (or Bashley) be out of the question because they are not in Dorset? Surely the best place for a new stadium would be on the old Power Station site, just over the bridge.

The Cuthbury sounds like a good idea for Poole Town. One question, though. Would you approach Wimborne Town first - a sort of "seven day approach" - or would you just turn up and start playing??

I'm sure the BOD would contact any appropriate authority at the relevant club, but we certainly would pay our taxes/ dues.

For what it's worth, if I were in your position I'd do anything within reason to get into the Southern League even if it meant groundsharing for a season at a financial loss while you sort out a proper home.
Promotion opportunities don't come around that often.

BACK TO BACK!! The supporters will support in every way we can, and we must be be attracting players like Walker for a very good reason. Keep up the pressure on those politicians, we,re getting good publicity recently and they cannot ignore it, its way past time for them to give us reasonable help. UP THE TOWN

The problem with ground sharing with Wimborne, New Milton or any other team is that the Team in the higher league's fixtures take preference. So if we go up into a league above the team we are sharing with our fixtures will take presidence over theirs. This may be good for Poole Town but it will not go down well with the host club, and can cause friction when they have to postpone or move fixtures to make way for us

Regarding the options being discussed here:
AFCB is not currently an option. No discussions have taken place between the clubs. This was newspaper speculation.
Poole Stadium has been considered but is not a current option. The playing surface was not big enough before and it is even smaller now.
The upgrade to Tatnam is again being investigated, but is unlikely and would only give us one possibly two levels higher at best.
Canford Park Arena is the best possibility, but rest assured, we will not leave Tatnam unless we can gain promotion AND Canord Park Arena is extremely likely.
As stated elsewhere, as soon as we know more and decisions need to be taken, a Supporters Meeting will be called and your opinions canvassed.

Any groundshare would need to be with facilities suiable for Step 4 at least.
Amongst others, the ground needs to be enclosed with the 2m perimeter fence within 15m of the touchline, 2 turnstiles, a stand with seating for 250, clubhouse etc etc
