you have to admit it. Corrie St has nothing on this saga does it? It is informative to look back on posts dating back SEVEN years on this subject. sometimes reality has to temper aspirations but the ongoing kernel of truth is The Town need to be in Poole and from what I read Poole needs us there yes, times are hard but they were never any harder than when men with vision put up the first floodlights, than when the Supporters Club built a Stand worthy of League status, than when PTFC enticed Stan Rickaby to transform the Club so lets have some vision BOD and Councillors!! I was never at The Cuthbury because in the late fifties/sixties WTFC were toiling away in the lower echelons of the Dorset League whilst PTFC were breaking down the Berlin Wall of the Southern League. So times have indeed changed. Good luck to WTFC in their new home and before we go to our reward hopefully WTFC fans will be returning the compliment.

...and another one bites the dust !
York City Fc will shortly leave their long time Bootham Ground to play in the new multi function LNER Stadium capacity of New stadium 8000 which is pretty good considering York City are now an NL outfit. You,ve guessed it correctly. There is planning permission for 93 new homes at the old venue.! Time for the "Keep the Town in Poole" squad to up the tempo!! so the rallying cry for 2021 remains the same "Never Say Never"
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!
And being a addictive follower of supposedly lost causes its good to see 50,000gbp Government study to renew regular passenger service trains on the Swanage Branch,

Happy New Year To All PTFC Fans, Players, and yes the BOD
Despite the prevailing gloom is this the Year of the Great Reveal?
Poole High Street in a downward spiral and does not get any Government money so there has to be a big rethink from the SXXXXXM on down, and logically it has to be residential. The virus has put paid world wide to a lot of small business and offices(which will not return). If PTFC have to miss the rest of the season then surely Speedway will have to as well, which should give the Pirates plenty of time to move to somewhere like Matchams. Surely BCP aren't going to keep the present facility open for them only. Do you recall when we had Eddie Mitchell on board as a special adviser. He foresaw a smaller stadium and residential in the area of the Stadium. say what you will about developers but sometimes they are ahead of the pack. I don't know anything about Company Law but wouldn't be exciting if members of the Supporters Club were entitled to buy shares in PTFC..something to pass on through the family. Give the fans something to talk about in 2021 even if there is no action on the field
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!

Will the Pirates operate 2021? Mr Ford is keeping a brave face on but the writing must be on the wall From what I read poor crowds;a deteriorating track(former first bend raker here and present!) Plus operating in the second tier of a dwindling sport with ridership from foreign parts questionable Meanwhile the dinosaur slumbers on at Wimborne Rd. When was the last time a paid event happened there? somebody must be losing their shirt! BUT the BIG question of course is Is that where a small source of light is emitting for diehard Dolphins Fans?? Perhaps we should re-sign Eddie for some practical insight!!

Pirates will indeed operate in 2021 Expat and a fabulous array of fixtures have been announced only but a few days ago...
**Sorry for my long absence from this most excellent forum but I unfortunately tested positive for Coronavirus over the new year period (Loss of smel/taste, trouble breathing and complete and utter washed out feeling) and I've only just recovered - well sort of! - it is horrible and I do hope none of you get it....

The writing is on the Stadium wall for Speedway and for obvious reasons. The Leagues and spectators are dwindling and it is perhaps not that surpising. The bikes are unique, unlike Moto GP or Superbikes where there is usually a road bike paying homage to your favourites rider's bike, Speedway is based on technology developed in the early part of the 20th century and has barely evolved. LIke its pasive counterpart the fixed whell bike it is only seen on specialist tracks but unlike Cycling, there are no British heroes.
Specifically at Poole, the Stadium is looking vert tired and is rapidly becoming an eyesore. It is rapidly becoming unviable before the Pandemic. So it has to be redeveloped. The question is how? The fact that recent plans to re-develop all included a stadium supports the theory that there is some kind of covenant on the land so development can only go ahead with that in mind.
With the best will in the world, those looking to redevellp are included a stadium becasue they have to, not through any love of sport.
Whatever way you look at is, this awful tragedy we have lived through is the right time to demolish The Stadium and start again whether that includes PTFC or not.

Age shall not weary them....Yes i mean those long suffering veteran PTFC supporters. i shall consider it a life well lived if I can walk through the gates of the New Stadium! We have said most of what we can and now it is up to our BOD and BCP to deliver a Stadium fit for purpose and then comes the awesome task of assembling a team to fit it!
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!
btw I find your post very encouraging,John!

Talking to a friend who trained greyhounds at the Sxxxxxm up until they were closed down. He said that it was not viable to travel to Swindon on a permanent basis so had ceased business. He understood that the Sxxxxxm was only being viewed as being sustainable if two sports were taking place there. So maybe this season will be the last for the speedway. He understands that a major bookmaker was looking into maybe securing some sort of deal that would have kept the place open but were met with a negative response.

There are covenants on the land that mean it cannot just be developed per se. That is probably why the Bookie was rebuffed.

128 flats approved for "The George" roundabout area. council says does not want to build on Green Belt reminds me of that 60s hit 'Footsteps" although in this case the footsteps are getting close to the end of that tunnel just off Wimborne Rd!1 Never Say Never!!

reading the Echo it seem as if Bearwood(remember that one? buses streaming up Ringwood Rd on a Saturday lol!) is now going to be given over to another 700 homes. One correspondent however did mention the building potential at the "old Greyhound Stadium" Speaking of which The Pirates are doing well but COVID is hitting them hard, lets hope that does not spill over to NL Football. you know that all of us will taking a peek from time to time at the WTFC site. Is their "New Cuthbury"

Have any Dolphins supporters taken a surreptitious sneak into The New Cuthbury? Or is just the thought too hard to entertain? Some of the dreamers on this site would appreciate an impression!

I’ll put my hand up and say yes, I couldn’t make Poole away at Harrow and the DPL game I was going to watch got called off, Choose to go as they were playing Swindon a week before we got them in the cup. I don’t like to say it but it’s a great set up there, behind both goals is undercover standing, could also walk around with a beer in a plastic cup, looking forward to going back on the 5th to watch Poole

Went and had cheeky snoop a couple of weeks back. I must say I am very impressed. Its a superb facility. Hasn't got the same old school feel the Old Cuthbury had, but the old ground was tired and and needed to go. Good luck to WTFC in their new facility. Not that I'm jealous......

Thought much the same. Not having a pop at those at our club trying to sort a new ground. The fundamental difference is that Wimborne Town FC had enough control of the (old) Cuthbury that they were able to leverage it into a new facility. And all the best to them with it, and all the best to you in whatever your football-related activity will be, BD.

I must agree with BD. The new WTFC stadium is excellant, although alchohol (or alchol as the notices said) was not allowed outside the clubhpuse on Tuesday.
The weird acoustics have been noted by Jack Tanner but Apaert from that there is little to criticise except the decision to have 300 kids training immediately before the match. Result traffic jam and parking chaos.
However these are irrelevant and to be honest the supporters of Poole Town FC would give Wilf Mannion's right arm for a similar facility.

One of the great privileges of my life. To watch Wilf Mannion in a PTFC shirt Before PL players even thought of it I saw him score a back flick over the shoulder into the net; Picture this also, ball is stationary. Wilf feints to left and defender goes right then Wilf goes to the right and defender goes left. The crowd roared!!

The only fans left that still go are the diehards like myself, We are losing fans to Hamworthy and dare I say it Wimborne who are both in the league below and both get games on. Rumours of Creekmoor sounded really promising but now that’s gone quiet. I remember in September there was a news article saying bcp council were helping to find us a new home and haven’t heard anything since

I recently wrote a letter to the Echo which the Editor chose not to print. I said " I must say that I was tinged with a little bit of jealousy when I read your news story "Training ground plans submitted" (Echo 20/12). What a "Jewel in the Crown" for AFC Bournemouth, 10 full size football pitches, 3 Junior pitches, an artificial indoor playing surface, and numerous other fantastic add-ons, which will make it all a truly "State of the Art" development. I wrote to you previously about the long wait that supporters of Poole Town F.C had endured on a new ground for the club that was being touted. Unfortunately, when delivered, we were told by BCP that the designated site was deemed as not being suitable and was therefore being considered for alternative use. To their credit the Council got rapid consent for the Dolphins to remain at their Tatnam base while other options, wherever and whenever, were being sought. I worry that with overdevelopment fewer options will be left open for relocation within the town itself, and with BCP tightening up on its finances, the issue could well end up on the back burner. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that the project will not just be forgotten about. Ironic as well, that Canford Magna is within the old "Borough of Poole" and is in itself, the very seedling on which the town of Poole was built." These are my own personal sentiments.

Frustrating!!! We just start to string a few results together, the faithful are dreaming in technicolor(oops Grandad!1) of a playoff berth and once again out rides the Black Knight of Tatnam to dash our hopes Once again I return to the theme of HOPE. Lord knows PTFC fans over the past decade or so have looked to that aspiration enough Sadly MarkV you are right, Just look at the names of contributors that we no longer see on here and we stil get no inkling from on high where and what our dwelling will be!! Another couple of years of Tatnam and its cancellations could be the final nail in the coffin of our Team.
Come on BOD. Come on BCP the fans and the players deserve better so get together and give us some HOPE!!!

OK I am on a roll(or moan!)
But when i see the enthusiasm of those young PTFC fans at Salisbury, their love of the team and the players who write that they really appreciate the away support, Cannot Poole do better for these youngsters and show them that supporting your team and your Town can have positive results? Sorry but telling us we have a lease on Tatnam unitl 2025 doesn't exactly bring shouts of joy does it? as for keeping the faithful in the picture? They are voting with their feet BOD and BCP because as MarkV points out there are better equipped alternatives snapping at our heels
