Sad to see the passing of John Le Carre . A fitting obit on the BBC website. I did not know that he we born in Poole, Those of us brought up in the 40s 50s 60s can appreciate his accurate portrayals of "the class struggle". especially in the upper echelons of government; and indeed in our own lives as the first wave of deserving working class youth started hitting the Ivory Towers.

Thank you expat. I didn't know that John le Carre was from our town either and I, too, appreciate what you say in the rest of your post. Thanks again.

Todays Bournemouth Echo (1.1.21) has a picture of Poole Town youth players on its Letters page (19). I remember a lot of the faces, and Dave Osman and club photographer Andrew Orman who we sadly lost last year. Fifty years ago, happy days.
