planning to come over(covid Permitting) in September and trying to see relatives and steam railways as part of the mix. I could nor believe my eyes when I found a pub named "The Ancient Boro"!! It is in Tenterden,Kent and sounds right up my alley. No Fruit machines,No Music and NO PHONES, Its a micropub and Tenterden certainly seem to be blessed with lots of hostelries. If the gods smile I hope that my time in the Poole Area coincides with a Dolphins home game.if not I will be there in spirit anyway, I watch Flashscore and its interesting to see ex Dolphins on the Terras roster so quite capable of playing two leagues up.
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!

I hope that pubs in Poole (and elsewhere) have survived the crisis. The one you mention sounds rather like the pubs we used to know and enjoy. Keep us all informed of your plans and itinerary please. COYD

These ‘micro pubs’ seem to be quite common nowadays. We have one near here called The Bookmakers (which is what it used to be), another at the other end of Morecambe and one in Carnforth just up the road where the railway station was the setting for “Brief Encounter”. All music and machine free, Just good beer! It looks like the Terras will survive in the NL and so could we, given a proper ground and a bit of luck. Then we’d be back to the equivalent level we enjoyed in the 1950s when the old Southern League was just one step below Football League Division 4 - or, maybe, Football League Division 3 South. In those days, of course, there was no ‘League of Greed’ or daft names like ‘Championship’, ‘League 1’ and ‘League 2’ for divisions 2, 3 and 4. Roll on next season and COYD
