Football is alive and well and being played(!!!) in Dorset Five Saturday Divisions Poole Borough are back in the DPL although other Poole area sides look to be the power houses again (except for Balti;is that where old T erras spend the end of their careers?) Poole Bay( ) Have teams in the third and fifth Divisions It boggles the mind that some of these minnows are putting out THREE sides.must keep the team secretary busy oops i err the net has reached into darkest Dorset! I note there is a ream in Div 5 Silvercross. Come on you Prams!!

Yes, it's quite remarkable how many people are still happy to get a game of footie no matter how humble the circumstances including council rec's (sometimes wrecks!) and often shower free changing rooms that my dad's chickens might have refused. Even more admirable are the secretaries and the army of volunteers that keep the clubs afloat and wash the kit every week. When my dad was a ref (many years ago even before expat was raking the shale at The Stadium) he - my dad that is - took me along to clubs such as Lychett Red Triangle, Iwerne Minster and Donhead (I notice that Donhead still boast a Dorset League team). Happy days!

Did we get the 24 hours you promised expat? I would certainly have got the Junior Leaders Regiment (odd name eh?) having played against them. Based at Bovington Camp weren't they? As I recall they weren't very good - not at football anyway. I have to admit that I'd never have remembered the others but I do know that REME stands for Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers. Good luck to your son-in-law and you.
