Tame opening ten here at the Met Coach stadium, both sides hustling with little to show. 11 Minutes gone.

Some good hustle from Lee who wins the ball up top, but Genesini can't quite produce a cross after being supplied the ball.

30' Dan Bartlett sees a deflected shot just dip over the bar for a corner. Closest either side has come so far in a game of few chances.

36' Tony Lee beats the goalkeeper to the ball one on one, but is forced out wide. He still manages to curl one towards goal - only for a Merthyr defender to clear off the line.
Will Spetch sends a looping header narrowly over the far post. Poole getting closer.

Half time here - Poole should be ahead, but the literal Martyr on the line denies Tony Lee

47' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL TONY LEEEEEEEEE
Fantastic passing move sees Poole get the ball forward quickly - Genesini, to Dickson, Holmes, Carmichael - cut back for Lee to poke home.

Ironic that Wimborne game Abandoned due to waterlogged pitch, we havenโt had a game postponed for quite sometime, credit to our groundsman, perhaps the Micky taking will be reversed now ๐๐

Used to get to the match early. In the days before the Supporters stand was built I can still see Bill coming across the Stadium Parking lot from the Fire Station (where his father was I believe a Captain(?) Bill was carrying those old style football boots, brown and went up around the ankle! The dressing rooms were at the Wimborne Rd end of the Stadium and both teams and the Officials had to run out between the fans. This area sometimes got a little rowdy at HT and FT depending on the way the match had progressed! Bad fan behaviour used to result in "Notices required to be posted" by the FA. The cafe was in the same area as the dressing rooms and served a great cup of OXO at HT At FT the diehards who had attended the Reserve match used to hang around this area and await the telephone call from wherever the First Team were playing with the result
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!

Can't remember as far back as you Expat, but I do remember queuing outside of the newsagents at half six on a Saturday night waiting for the football Echo or "pink" as some called it. If Poole had been playing away reading the pink was the first we knew of how the team had fared. Seems odd today with instant "info" at everybody's fingertips. Also write ups on Parley Sports, Hamworthy, Water Co etc, plus local Rugby & Cricket. Good value for pennies!.

What a great win in Wales last night.3-0 away on a rainy night. An observation on what I have heard about but until last night, never witnessed... Thank you to Paul & Wendy Ayley for giving me a lift there & back. As a result got to see what not many do. Their job only really begins once everything is over. I saw the dressing room just after the players had left & in less than an hour how Paul, Wendy, PJ & Dan had completely packed everything away in the correct boxes & cleaned & tidied the dressing room. It was only then about an hour after everyone else had left, that we started the long journey back to Dorset. Then today the kits from last night at Merthyr & the U23s at Hamworthy will need washing, ironing & getting ready for the next match. By kit I don't just mean shirts, shorts and socks, but towels, training wear & some unmentionables too! Paul & Wendy Ayley & thier team of helpers, do this completely voluntarily. Driving the kit to away games so it arrives well ahead of the players, getting it ready the dressing room. So when TK & the lads arrive it is all laid out for them. Then as above clearing away, driving back again & washing it all ready for next time. Also preparing kits for the various other sided like the U23s, making sure that it is ready for when needed. All done for their love of Poole Town. All voluntary & as far as I know uncompensated for. The Kit Team are the team we never see, yet without their approach to it, just as complete as TK & the lads, the team would find it more difficult on matchdays to ready themselves to go out & try to win. Paul & Wendy Ayley plus helpers are Poole Town legends in everyway. COYD ๐ฌ
