Steve, was absolutely gutted to hear the news earlier this evening of your very dear father. As you know I remember him dearly when he helped run the PTFC shop in the stadium and as a young Lad I was always looking for something to buy with my pocket money! Like you, let's now go and win the league!!
I also through chatting with you realised that both your father and my father were in the army round about the same time too!
Be lovely to have something named after him at Tatnam....

Steve I have just seen this thread- i know just how close you were to Bert- it was so obvious every time I saw you both together. He must have been a wonderful father. He was such a decent gentle proper person, a true gent in every sense of the word and so proud to be the Club’s oldest supporter. He was special and irreplaceable. May he rest in peace. Please do ensure that we are made aware of the date of the funeral- there will be so many of us that will want to pay our respects. Chris

Very sad news. Steve and Bert were first people myself and Ashley got to know at Poole Town - made us feel so welcome. Bert was a true gentlemen - liked to wind the opposition up - but always in a nice way. Believe he had followed The Dolphins for almost 80 years. I know he only managed a couple of games last season, but will not be the same knowing he will not be back. Always enjoyed my little chats with him. Steve - our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. RIP Bert - a true Dolphins legend. Peter & Ashley

One of my favourite people who has supported the Club since I took over in 1991. Bert was a true gentleman and never failed to give a cheery greeting whenever we met. Ferociously loyal to Poole and had a great bond with Steve who must be heartbroken Cheerio my old mate and cheer us on in spirit x

Sorry about you & your families loss. Will miss seeing him at Tatnam next season. When I first started watching in 2014, he was one of those who made me feel welcome.
