Back in July 22 2008 in a Pre season friendly v Bashley - 15 years ago, from a PTFC programme at that time in the team was a certain player that of Will Spetch! Will is now on 489 games for Poole Town FC! Well done.
Other players you may remember were Charlie Austin, Taffy Richardson, Carl Poore, Andy Cullingford, Leigh Phillips, Lamin Dibba, Jason Harvell and many more.

Was Andy Cullingford any relation to Cecil Cullingford, local historian and my history teacher at school?

OK
Cue all the apologists who dream that we are going to get promoted this season!!
We just lost to second from the bottom Dorchester at home
what excuses are we going to hear from the BOD this time around
Where is the impetus from the Boardroom and Managerial Office to kick start this team
To get into the NLS we need players of that level and above as WSM proved last season
I am sorry to post this sdo early in the seaSON But we are not going to be there are we?

What a shambles. Promotion forget it. There were better players on the bench than in the starting line up.

Tbh neither keeper had anything to do today apart from picking the ball out of the net, Dorchester's 2 goals came trying to do to much in the middle of park and getting caught out, then with players out of position a tangle of legs hw gets sent off then a superb free kick gets there second. We played the usual nice passing football but unfortunately lacked in the final third only looking dangerous from set plays. Just one of those days plus also credit to Dorchester. Go again Saturday!

I think that most people, myself included, thought that the game today was going to be a shoo-in. How wrong we were, and what a vastly improved side Dorchester were from the one we played last season. No excuses, the best team on the day won.

My phone burped out a second half sending off for us before the three goals but it told me a good half hour after game finished. Was someone sent off?

Too many red cards. Some is down to poor reffing but a lot is based on yellows for dissent and the FA are rightly clamping down on it.

This has to rate as one of the worst matches I have endured at Tatnam for several seasons. Dorchester just about deserved the win but honestly, on this display, if you picked a team out of all players that took part in this game you'd still have a team unlikely to finish in the top half of table. Early days yet, so hopefully the board can get a grip of the players and management and give them a mighty kick up the proverbial.

Consistently inconsistent clearly.

Blimey 6 matches in and it’s all doom and gloom. Yes yesterday was a horrible game but those days happen even for top Premier League teams. I suspect, after their poor start and the fact it was us, Dorch were really pumped for that yesterday. You only had to see how their fans and players reacted to know, to them, that was no ordinary league game. Put simply if they had played with that resilience and put that much effort into their previous games they would not be near the foot of the table! That’s no excuse as we should have been ‘at it’ as well but for whatever reason we weren’t. I’ve been to every game this season and tbh, apart from the Bracknell game, I’ve not been overly impressed at all and that includes the Swindon and Harrow away wins! We have the players to produce far better than we’ve shown so far and I’m convinced that when we kick into gear we will be a force. However, despite the poor start to the season we still sit in 7th place with 10 points and only 2 of the playoff positions. The sign of a good team is one that can still get points when they are far from their best which I believe we are. My only concerns are defensively we do seem to lack any kind pace which is causing us problems. We also need to tighten up as a unit and show far more discipline as we have conceded far too many ‘soft’ goals that are costing up. All that said, albeit only 6 matches in, I cannot see us gaining automatic promotion as champions but I can still see us go up via the playoffs. We will get better so just keep believing and backing the team.

I thought the game would end up 0-0 the way it was going, but Dorchester seemed to want it that bit more and got the result. I am not sure there are any really easy games. Weaker teams relegated and others looking to improve, so it will be a long haul, but getting into the playoffs should be doable. So I very much agree with stickjing together and backing the team if we are going to do that.

Is it doom and gloom? Or just old fashioned realism? we were in a very similar situation at this time last year and if we look at the standings right now do you see us overhauling Merthyr,Gosport, Chesham etc Those teams were pumped and ready for the off, something we were not ! and something we were not ready for last year either as WSM took off like a rocket! Is there any accountability for this? Look at the statements coming from the BOD and the Manager;not exactly overflowing with confidence are they? In each case the team should have been strengthened in the off season and with players capable of performing in the NLS. What is it, Three red cards in as many games. Discipline obviously lacking!! the ability to string some wins together Poole,s home fans deserve to watch a winning team; a team capable of being at the top not just aiming for the playoffs. Several seasons ago after relegation from the NLS we were assured that we would soon be back up into that level Lets ask the BOD,The manager and the players to again commit to that goal!
UP THE TOWN (since the mid 1950s!)

No I can’t see us overhauling all of the aforementioned teams but as the season progresses at least one or two of them may well drop off form so who knows? The league after 6 games will in no way reflect what it will look like by the end of the season but as I said, no I cannot see us going up as champions. It’s so easy to suggest we should at the top but there are at least half a dozen genuine teams that would be saying the same thing and with good reason. Why do Poole fans deserve to see a team at the top of table more than say Bracknell for instance? I’m sure the BOD had good intentions of returning to the NLS but it is easier said than done. With only one automatic place guaranteed and another through the lottery of the playoffs it is a tough league to get out of. Yes it would be great to win the league but a more realistic approach would be to make sure you make the playoffs as a minimum which I believe we are more than capable of.

I think the defence as been a problem for several seasons now and in my opinion the two main defenders Jamie Whisken and Will Spetch now in the autumm of their football playing careers have no players of real experience around them, also players playing out of position. I think there should have been two experienced defenders signed two seasons ago. I am all for bringing on younger players into the team but not to many at a time and at the right time. Most teams that are successful have a solid defence. When the club was promoted from the Southern League to the National League South in 2015/2016 season the team only conceded 35 goals in total.

As expat has often said, we lack consistency - except in indiscipline.
Have we EVER won a playoff?
