Is it just me or is anyone else disappointed by the reaction of some of the players? I totally understand the loyalty towards to manager but what are they trying to prove by walking out and not even giving the new guy a chance, the only people that are going to suffer are the supporters. Also I read of the lack of loyalty that the club have supposedly shown to Tommy, but how many clubs would have been loyal enough to keep a manager in place for 20 years in the first place. I do also find it sad that people are writing off the new guy Tubbs before he’s even started, it’s ill advised to say that he’s inexperienced and unqualified for the job, he’s had a pro career, is UEFA A qualified and has been managing in the division below, all far more than Tommy when he was appointed manager, and he didn’t do too badly did he? Forgot to add….. it can still be a family club, it’s the club ethos that counts and not just who the manager is, I enjoyed watching Poole before Tommy was manager, Peter Moore, Brian O Donnell, Paul Morrell, the supporters were still the same lovely bunch that they are now. We support the club and the team whoever is in charge don’t we? And also thinking on 'my first' PTFC manager Roger Bazeley and the class of players we had at the Stadium back in the mid-eighties!! Funnell, Manson, Baber etc

All I know of the current happenings is what I read on the forum, but in answer to Dolphin, I wonder if a lot of the ill-feeling is deep rooted and has been bubbling below the surface for a while. Those players choosing to jump ship might know more than us onlookers and there is no point staying put if you don't agree with how things are being done. That would be hypocritical.

The man I feel most sympathy for is Chris Reeves. He has spent most of his adult life striving to build the club back up to our current level, from the ruins he inherited, only to now see it in grave danger of teetering back into the abyss. Yes he should shoulder some of the blame for bringing in those current directors that are now the root cause for this implosion of our club BUT without his single handed previous heroics the club would have gone under years ago. Unless I have seriously misjudged the man, I believe that the current situation has been forced upon him by these new board members who seem to have scant regard for loyalty, community affinity and the history of the club. Stick with it Chris, you are the clubs main chance of riding out this storm.

What on earth do you mean in danger of going into the abyss… talk about an overreaction!
Yes it’s upsetting to see players leave, especially when they are fans favourites, but frankly even if the whole squad left (although hopefully there won’t be anymore) the football club will still be here and the manager and his staff will bring in their own players to put out an 11.
You may or may not take to the new manager and his new players but at least give them a chance

We are a club currently with very limited financial resources and collateral, that could be used to develop the club both on or off the pitch. With a weakend team, results and the clubs standing is likely to collapse. So will sponsorship and spectator attendance, thereby reducing financial resources even further. On this basis, obtaining replacement players of the calibre that we have lost, may not be as easy for the new manager as you seem to think. It's not just about putting out 11 players, it's about putting out a team that is capable of beating any other team in their league, by playing entertaining, attractive football. Hopefully the new manager and his team will be able to achieve this, but I wouldn't bet on it. Prophet of doom I may be. but I'm also a realist.

OK we have lost a Goalie(who has left us before)
Two ageing midfielders
And Jack Dickson
Yes,our new Manager will have inspire his own loyalties
Give Him a chance!

You mention grandad the club is on limited financial resources? Did the new director/owner? not recently state that the playing budget had increased X number of times(can't remember the figure offhand) Does not sound like finances are that limited but the director was disappointed by performances based on increased budget We can only speculate but maybe something had to give and Tom killick was too loyal to his current squad (nothing wrong with loyalty) and the club were going to have another just ok season and not achieve promotion

I hear what people are saying about clubs changing their manager but traditionally a club will change manager when they underperform.
Last season we made the play-offs despite not having as big a budget as other teams (only losing away on penalties to a team that went up) and won the Dorset Cup. Those were performance targets met I imagine.
This season he had a bigger budget and the stated aims were top 2 (so we go straight up or have a home run through the playoffs) and progress in the cups. We are 2 points outside the playoffs and through in the FA cup with a favourable draw in the next round. Both improvements on this stage last season.
The manager then has the rug pulled out from under him by a director who has admitted in interview that he's appointed someone he knows, and always intended to appoint. He also admitted that he sacked Killick now as he is having an op in a few weeks and wouldn't be here to sack him if things hadn't improved before he fully recovered and comes back!
Why not set him a target? Say to him if we aren't top 4 and through in the Cup by the end of the month then you're gone? Then everyone knows where they are, and people (including the players) can get their head around it.
This way it was done feels rushed and unprofessional. People have a right to feel put out and good players are jumping ship because they feel let down, and that they and the manager they respect haven't had a chance to see those targets met.

Just a thought maybe none of this would have happened if the board had invested in more players in the closed season. They seem so intent on promotion but only signed Nippard, Santos and Wright if Tom had had a bigger squad he may still be here.

Dreadful news as I nearly choked on my Cornflakes this morning. Thinking of the death of our beloved Queen a year ago today,I read the forum with tears in my eyes.
Will Spetch not making 500 games, Corby Moore ,Jack Dickson, going and Luke Cairney possibly, what the hell is happening,is the club imploding?
Rossiter and Jarman clearly the driving forces behind the change to our family club. Of course coming from the hugely successful clubs Yeovil and Crawley!!!!! we must bow to their knowledge of how to run a successful club.
Unable to add anything more to what has been said at this time ,will reflect and return to forum when my head clears.

Sad to see Tom and some good players go time will tell if it was the right or wrong decision players/managers come and go Poole Town will continue life goes on so let's get behind the new manager and his staff, I will still support the 11 players that take the pitch like I did the season we lost every game bar 1 at over Hamworthy.

The squad was built more on quality than quantity. You could have signed 30 players but you can only have 11 starters and 5 named subs of which only 3 can play. The rest wouldn’t even make the bench. Try keeping a happy camp in those circumstances. The problem, imo, was more that Tommy was reluctant to drop or sub his stalwarts and favourites even when clearly they had tired legs and were struggling!
