Hopefully most of you have had an email with details on how to make comments supporting the Draft Local Plan. If you haven't yet commented - can we urge you to do so - the closing date is this Friday 3rd May. The more positive and supporting comments on the plan specifically around the Community and Sport provisions, the more likely we are to be supported from other angles in our endeavours. The details, and relevant links can be found on the main club website: Main Club Website

Here's the relevant stuff: You can do this by completing the online form: haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/bcp-draft-local-plan. In doing so, we can collectively demonstrate the importance of investing in sport facilities in Poole. I have included some guidance as to how to submit your views at the end of this email. Here are some reasons why increasing sport provision is important to Poole Increasing sport provision is important for our community and you may wish to cover the following points: ⚽ Youth development – through sports young people can learn important life skills such as teamwork and discipline. It offers opportunities for personal growth and skill development and supports children’s mental and physical health. ⚽ Enhances the community - there is a shortage of suitable accommodation, with parking, to satisfy the demand from local private sports clubs, dance schools, and charities, as well as grassroot organisations, for them to provide much needed fitness and recreation opportunities for the local community. By having better facilities, schemes such as the Poole Town FC Kids Initiative would be able to support even more children and schools in the area, by expanding its provision of free football coaching, free school holiday clubs, vouchers for schools, and free kit. ⚽ Clubs can thrive and survive – there are many sports clubs in the area in urgent need of new grounds and facilities, including Poole Town FC which is currently home to the first team Dolphins, U23 Reserves and Champion Academy, as well as Poole Town FC Wessex which provides grassroots football from U7’s to U18’s. Poole Town FC Ladies are currently having to train and play in Millborne St. Andrew near Dorchester and are seeking a permanent base much closer to home. By expressing our support for increased sports facilities through the draft Local Plan consultation we can shape the future of sports in our community and increase the possibly of finding a new, suitable home for Poole Town Football Club. Together, let’s make sure that future generations have access to resources they need to thrive.
