Just announced that we have signed Ezio Touray from Weymouth with Jake McCarty going in the other direction.
Weymouth fans seem to be disappointed that Touray has left them. He's a young, strong striker who can finish so is exactly what we need at the moment. McCarthy should have been a big signing for us, but it just hasn't worked for whatever reason, so maybe we've done OK out of this.
Fingers crossed Touray is the goalscorer we've been missing. If we can get back to keeping them out at the other end like we did for the first 2 months of the season maybe we'll be onto something!!

Interesting WD. You are right - McCarthy was the big signing with so much promise - but just hardly ever delivered. Chose to leave or pushed?
As you say, hopefully Touray is the goal machine we have been waiting for!

We can sign as many strikers as we like,a good 4 on the books now, bit useless unless you sign players that can provide them, which I dont see

Jake is a class player, the best of the summer signings by far.
The fact that it hasn’t worked out reflects on others (style of play) more than Jake I feel
It just feels like someone playing fantasy football who likes to make a “new signing” every week, we’ll never have a settled team.
Toby Holmes has been the leagues top scorers at every other team he’s played for in this league….. just need to give him the right service

The only player who I feel can makes things happen atm is Ty Clarke. The only central midfielder who job I know is Billy Lowes who's defensive work is second to none constantly breaking the opposition play, Mccarthy and slade bring nothing to the defensive or attacking play so hence lack of opportunity for the strikers.

Ezio Touray...arrived at Weymouth about a year ago, banging in goals like there was no tomorrow. 5 in his first 3 games I seem to recall. Gradually though he just seemed to be less and less effective. These days he's a sub most matches, an impact player. He can look very dangerous and has scored us a few important goals. He can also be pretty anonymous, especially when he starts games. He's a bit of a fan favourite. I guess fans like a goalscorer and he's probably got more than anyone else in the team over the last 12 months. Certainly has potential to do well and go on to higher levels.

Jake McCarthy. Surprised it hasn't worked out for him at Poole. He was a decent player for Weymouth going back, what, 6 years ago. He's been full time at Havant for several years at a decent level. So, what's gone wrong ? He used to create a fair bit from central midfield and bang in long range shots. Must admit though when Havant last visited Weymouth, Jake wasn't outstanding.

Jake McCarthy is no great loss base on what he has churned out at Poole this season , he has often just plodded along through games and looked lazy in midfield going through the motions , certainly not taking games by scruff of the neck and dictating them and making those around him any better , a massive dissapointment considering what we thought we were getting

Well you can write it off as no big loss if you like, or you can look at the bigger picture which is that another class player who the manager/club have not been able to get the best out of has gone through the revolving exit door.

Yeah, know where you are coming from. Ezio arrived with experience at Reading and Watford youth set up. Started like a train and many of us were thinking we had a real gem on our hands who would go on and score plenty and potentially earn a decent transfer fee on his way up. For whatever reason, didn't happen. Management, circumstances, lack of confidence, effort or desire, not sure. He's still young. He needs to be playing more but he needs to earn the right to be playing more. Dropping down a league may just be the boost he needs to progress. I wish him luck, he's got some ability and knows where the goal is.
