Regrettably we have just heard from our planning Consultants that the application will not be included in the agenda on 10th Feb.We are looking for a guarantee that it will be heard at the next meeting which is 10th March.
Whilst not fatal this is a frustration-our efforts re the Grant process are in full swing and as soon as the planning is sorted we will land running with our submission to the FA.We have a meeting this Friday to bring FA fully up to date with all aspects of the situation and to discuss our massive portfolio of papers in support of our submission to them for funding.

Frustrating indeed!! Obviously there will be other planning applications for the 10th of February but I wonder if there is a particular reason why ours cannot be included? Are they considered in the order that they arrive at the Planning Department for example or are they prioritised in some other way? Anybody know?

So much for all the Councillors promises, would like to hear the reasons for this. Just has to make us more determined.

This in very naughty and will have repercussions. The Echo will love this and use it to bash the council. It will, be another own goal for the Borough of Poole.
I am sure more (excuses?) will emerge in due course so for now we must let Chris and the rest of the BoD take care of business while we let off steam, starting with tonight across the water in Hamworthy.

Agreed John, but why am I worried about this? Maybe because this year we are not winning when we should?

Agreed John, but why am I worried about this? Maybe because this year we are not winning when we should? It's not just that John. I don't trust politicians and I fear that this delay may presage something more sinister than just a delay!

Brian, I think we have to take Chris's comments at face value. At the moment, the application is with the Planning dept and the politicians do not officially get involved until the Planning Meeting. So it is more likely to be the civil servants that are holding up the application. If we set aside the the two negative comments, as far as I can see the only obstacle is the Local Plan that has this area "zoned" as employment land. I am no expert, but as far as I remember the local plan is sacrosanct and cannot be contravened without good reason. As guardians of the local plan, the planning department, and council as a whole, cannot be seen to roll over without a thorough investigation into the wider implications of our application. On more than one occasion I have heard that it is likely that we will be successful in the end but that there might be a number of hurdles to overcome on the way. It is even possible that the first application is not successful and that (as with all planning application) an appeal or modifications to the planning application are needed. Where there is a will there is a way and I am sure that the Echo and the BoD, will, in football parlance, "keep them honest". On a personal note though, I am furious

I certainly hope you're right John. I guess I'm a bit of a pessimist (like parky!) and I tend to see the worst possible outcomes. In a sense that makes it less disappointing when things turn out bad!
Our application would bring some modest levels of employment I suppose so maybe that could help.
I just want it to get through at the first attempt and then 'get on with it' for everyone's sake!
