I believe there are also local residents who would like to see the end of the car boots there. I did one there, was certainly an experience, and not a good one!

Is that true or are you just presuming again Fran?
Think of the positives here with a car boot to bring in extra MUCH NEEDED revenue. Perhaps as you are experienced with Car Boot sales you could become the chief coordinator of this venture?!

Not too sure why we would be getting the revenue, surely that would go to the landowners

That's a nice looking house they got there I wonder who lives in that posh house? It could be someone rich with a lot of 'clout'. Will they mind us being there?

For the exiles:
General opinion - A success!
We had a few steriotypical voices with concerns about us building the new Dell and 30,000 drunken supporters maurauding through Bearwood when we lose - It was pointed out we don't lose and thats why we are back-to-back champions.
There were residents that spoken in favour, particularly those living closest to the development in Wheelers Lane. On departure many people thanked us for what we were proposing and some even said they came as anti and were won over.
As usual, good work Chris Reeves!

Just like to add my thanks to Chris and the BoD for their excellent prestnation and handling of the meeting last night. Having been at the opening public bun fight meeting at Branksome Rec this was a refreshing change! You will always get the odd dissenting voice (and when they have no clue about our level of football I guess you can understand it) but overall I thought this was a major success. Lots of pro comments and every issue dealt with superbly by the BoD and Co.
Well Done all.

Yes a very successful meeting, with some positive feedback from locals. In particular one guy who lives in Wheelers Lane, he called it a "heaven sent opportunity for the community" and thanked the club for a very welcome project. Much more comfortable feeling, than the Branksome chill. I see the Circus is on the Rec this week, they won't need any clowns ;D

What's going on? I'm very disappointed in them

At the end of the meeting I made a point of speaking to the lady who was most worried about the 'rampaging hordes of drunken hooligans from Alderney and Kinson' wrecking her estate after every match. She had obvious fears, believing that all football supporters were of the same ilk. I managed to allay her fears by telling her the truth about the difference between League/International football and the grass roots level at which we play. In the end she was happy to accept that we were a family club and neither encouraged nor attracted that sort of supporter. When Rob B came up and assured her that in the unlikely circumstances that were it ever to occur, the club would quickly nip it in the bud, she went away a happy bunny. All told, I think it was an extremely heartening meeting.

I wonder if we actually have any supporters from Alderney and Kinson?

Having spoken to CD this evening, I am more and more positive about Canford. I don't think the rest of us realise the amount of work the Club are doing behind the scenes, you have our utmost thanks.

I really hope it happens now sterte because the alternative is that there is no alternative! I have no doubt you're right about the amount of time and effort put in by the club and in particular by a handful of specific people within the club. The entire town should be grateful!

The owner of Merton Grange was there, he was worried about the oak trees just outside his boundary. He claimed there were buzzards nesting and hunting there. However, he was reassured by CR the trees were not in any danger, and seemed happy to have a stadium, instead of industrial units and factories, which the land is set aside for. Most people did not seem to know about this alternative, and changed from anti-stadium to pro-stadium. One resident even suggested taking all the land up to Magna Road, and putting cricket and football pitches in.
