I know its a silly question, but why cant we just do the old stadium up and go back there?
Ive never found out to this day why we cant play there again,im sure everyone knows but me!
I know they cut abit of the pitch off but i dont mind donating some turf!!
Going back would surely solve all our ground problems and Poole Town would be back where they belong, and where i used to go as a boy to watch them,i remember watching pre season friendlies against Man Utd and West Brom,i think, and a couple of other big teams.

It's not a silly question - like many things the answer comes down to money and market forces. The reconfiguration of the speedway and dog tracks means that more than "a bit of the pitch" has now gone. The reality is that we can not compete financially with the popularity of the speedway and the greyhounds, and pay the sort of commercial rent that the current leaseholders would no doubt require to accommodate us - probably a four figure sum a week? PS Interesting article on Wikipedia re the stadium en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poole_Stadium

Time to move on, plst. The old stadium even at its best had about as much atmosphere as the moon, and that was on the few occasions when it had a decent crowd! My time watching PTFC goes back to the early 60's onwards and I can count on one finger when it was OK there! Changes in league structures now mean that you do not need a 5-7500 capacity stadia in the Southern League, and so the time for Branksome or improvements at Tatnam will provide the answer to promotions.

Realistically they don't want us back now surely. They have the week nicely carved up between them...........no contest. It should never been allowed in the first place, but surely it's too late now.

I remember a very young Norman Whiteside scoring a hat-trick against the Town and Man City playing there too (with Trevor Francis, though I may have made up his appearance).

Can any of you remember the Stadium before the Speedway and Greyhound tracks were installed and PTFC were top of the old Western League (then only 2 leagues below the old Football League Div 4)? There WAS atmosphere then and Stan Rickaby and Wilf Mannion to name but 2! Good luck to Poole Pirates who I used to cheer on as a boy and who, over the years, have brought some measure of fame to the town, but nowadays silverfox and slepe are right, the Stadium is OUT as a venue for football!
