This is the article from today's Echo: New group formed to back Branksome Rec development 8:51am Monday 23rd February 2009

By James Morton »
A NEW action group has formed aimed at dispelling the perception all Branksome residents are against Poole Town’s plans to set up home on their rec.
The group believes the £1 million scheme, which would include upgrading of the current facilities, will help revive the area and have significant community benefits for Branksome.
Aggrieved that opponents of the plans are getting their voices heard, the new group has already gathered dozens of members who support the football club’s proposals.
Tony Andrews, who has started the Branksome Rec Residents Supporting Poole Town Proposals group, said: “The rec has been crying out for something to be done for years.
“At the moment it is disgusting and people are coming over to our side of the argument because they think something needs to be done.”
Just under a year ago, Poole Town announced they wanted to build a new ground on part of the rec, and upgrade the current pavilion and pitches.
Almost from day one, the residents of Branksome seemed staunchly against the plans.
But Mr Andrews believes the main concerns about the scheme are unfounded.
He said: “The ground would take up next to no room compared to the size of the rec.
“There will be no more traffic or parking problems than when the circus visits. But if we get the pavilion renovated it will be open for all residents to use and to our advantage.”
Anyone wishing to join the cause can contact Mr Andrews on 01202 716242 or email s.m.andrews @btinternet.com.

Thanks for copying it across dave2.
I hope this goes some way towards helping other residents realise it can only be a positive for the local community.
