I played at branksome REC this morning and they were loads of room for parking and all the pitches were being used apart from the ones where Poole town wish to put there new ground. So I really can't see any reason for there not to be a stadium. But I do feel Poole town will have to develop the other pitches as they are a state. I also saw about 20 branksome residents just watching the football, so I feel they would benifit from wessex league football.
I would of thought that if the residents of branksome were going to oppose Poole town playing football there, then surely they should say NO to saturday or Sunday football aswell because this would cause the samee amount of traffic.
I really hope to see Wessex league football at branksome very soon
Cheers
Luke

Good point Luke about the fact that football is indeed played at the Rec now and there is no one complaining about this. This should also be brought to the notice of Poole Council. I can't see why there is a problem.
Further the only enclosed football ground in Poole at present is that at Hamworthy. The ground is very close to houses (much closer than it will be at Branksome) and is situated in a very narrow road which is a dead end. There is a very small car park adjacent the ground. There does not seem to be a problem with this ground. Hamworthy United which play there are in the same league as Poole so much of a muchness. It seems that the set up at the Rec would be better than the current situation at Hamworthy.

That's right dave2 and armsey, what a good point made! PLEASE write to the Echo! Like Chris says, it's really important to get constructve points across in the press.
My cousin sent me an item from the Echo dated 27th Jan which was very positive and headlined " Controversial pans for Rec set to go ahead"

RE: Hamworthy, you're right.. it's a very enclosed area and it is sorted out by simple traffic lights now, and after being in Hamworthy all my life I've never experienced any 'traffic problems' after being around the area. Yes, we get higher crowds than Ham. do, but it's hardly a drastic difference.

I think I made a mention of the Hamworthy game in another post on the BR subject around the date of the fixture. There were 460 plus supporters for the local derby, plus officials and players, yet there was not one single parking problem. Those that came by car parked with no interference at all to the local residents and left the game with the minimum of fuss.
